Complying with the New Data Privacy Laws

With greater dependency on the Internet, more personally identifiable information (i.e. full name, birth date, social security number, credit card numbers) is out in cyberspace.  To protect consumers, states are starting to develop more stringent legislation for businesses involved in electronically transferring this type of data.

Massachusetts and Nevada are the first two states to pass legislation requiring businesses within their respective states to encrypt any personally identifiable data transferred electronically (i.e. email, website, etc.) outside their secure systems.
