SafeData Formalizes Relationship with iTera for Hosted HA by Alex Woodie |
 |
| iSeries high availability software developer iTera and SafeData,
which operates hot site data centers for small and mid size businesses that can't afford a second server for replication, announced a formal partnership last week to provide iSeries shops with a full
array of high availability and disaster recovery services. |
 |
| SafeData has been making waves in the iSeries business continuity business since it launched about a year ago.
The company's business model revolves around two East Coast data centers, where it runs a slew of iSeries and Windows machines that it uses to house data replicated by its customers' primary data centers. In the event of a
disaster at a customer's primary data center, they can switch over to SafeData's systems and continue to run their business systems. |
 |
| Since it launched, SafeData has publicized its support for two OS/400 high availability solutions: iTera's Echo2, and the MIMIX solution from Lakeview Technology.
With last week's announcement, SafeData--founded by a former Lakeview business partner--has formalized its relationship with iTera, which has come on strong in recent years in the OS/400 high availability market. |
 |
| iSeries shops that opt to use Echo2 to replicate their data to SafeData's "carrier class" data center will see several benefits, the companies say, including 24/7 monitoring of the replication environment, monthly management and
switch-readiness reports, and annual role swaps. |

| Peter Briggs, president of SafeData, says the partnership will benefit vendors and customers. "Our capabilities, combined with iTera's software and support, create an excellent option for companies considering high availability and data
protection requirements." |
