FGX International Chooses SafeData for High Availability

| FGX International, the company behind the FosterGrant and Gargoyles sunglass and eyeglass brands, has picked hot site operator SafeData to host its mirrored iSeries environment,
SafeData announced yesterday. The deal includes technical services for migrating FGX from its current tape-based backup system, OS/400 high availability software from
iTera, and a new System i hardware from IBM. |

| "We have offices around the world and need to have our systems running 24x7," says Martin Temple, IT director for FGX International, which is based in Smithfield, Rhode Island. With the
mandate for high availability in mind, Temple set out looking for a solution. However, he found that most of the other solutions were "extremely expensive." Besides price, Temple cited SafeData's
experience, expertise, and proximity to FGX International's headquarters as key factors in his decision. (SafeData is based in Warwick, Rhode Island.) |

| FGX International's applications will be mirrored to two SafeData locations, including its Warwick data center and another data center in Medford, Massachusetts. The implementation will enable,
FGX International will be able to access all of its core iSeries applications, including order processing, electronic data interchange, shipping, procurement, accounting systems, and data warehouse,
during disasters or periods of planned downtime. |
